Adobe has announced an exciting expansion of its renowned video editing software, making Premiere available on iPhones. Set to launch on September 30, the app will be free to download from the App Store and is designed to deliver professional-level editing capabilities in a mobile-friendly format. An Android version is also on the horizon. Unlike the previous Premiere Rush, which catered to mobile creators with basic tools, the new Premiere app brings a comprehensive suite of editing features akin to its desktop version. Users can expect a multi-track timeline that supports unlimited video, audio, and text layers, alongside 4K HDR editing capabilities and one-tap export options tailored for popular platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts. The app is designed to enhance the user experience with automatic resizing for various social media formats, stylish subtitles, and auto-captioning features. Furthermore, Adobe is integrating its Firefly-powered AI functionalities directly into the app. These include generative sound effects, AI-driven speech enhancement to minimize background noise, and the ability to create images, videos, and audio by using text prompts. In addition to these features, users will have access to Adobe’s extensive stock library, which includes music, graphics, photos, and videos, along with various fonts and Lightroom presets. Importantly, Premiere for iPhone will allow users to produce content without watermarks on exports, although additional cloud storage and AI credits will be necessary for accessing more advanced features. Adobe aims to empower creators with the same editing control that professionals utilize for commercials, music videos, and films, all within a streamlined interface optimized for smartphones. This launch comes as competition in the mobile video editing space intensifies, with rivals such as Meta’s Edits app and the rapidly growing Captions platform vying for the attention of short-form content creators. Earlier this year, Adobe also introduced Photoshop for iOS and beta versions for Android, along with standalone Firefly apps on both platforms. With Premiere now part of its mobile offerings, Adobe is making a significant investment in providing high-end creative tools to the millions of creators who predominantly work from their phones.
