Adobe launches Firefly app for Android and iOS with powerful AI creation tools

Adobe has officially launched the Firefly app for both Android and iOS, designed to bring its cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) tools for image and video creation directly to mobile users. This marks the first time the company has packaged its robust suite of creative AI features into a dedicated mobile application. The Firefly app introduces several innovative tools, including generative fill, generative expand, text-to-image, text-to-video, and image-to-video capabilities. With generative fill, users can effortlessly remove unwanted elements from their photos or add new objects seamlessly. Generative expand allows images to be adjusted to various aspect ratios, making it easier to create content optimized for different social media platforms. In terms of video capabilities, the app currently supports the creation of clips lasting up to five seconds. While Adobe has previously integrated these AI features into its flagship products like Photoshop and Lightroom, Firefly aims to deliver these functionalities in a more streamlined and user-friendly way. Users will have the option to utilize Adobe's proprietary AI models or those developed by OpenAI and Google for generating their visual content. The Firefly app is free to download, but generating content requires the use of credits. For those who do not have an existing Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, a new monthly plan priced at $4.99 is available, providing additional credits and access to premium features, as confirmed by an Adobe spokesperson. Content created through the app is automatically synced with the user's Creative Cloud account, allowing for further editing on desktop applications. With this launch, Adobe is reinforcing its presence in the competitive landscape of AI-driven creativity, offering a mobile-first solution tailored for both casual users and professionals who need to create on the go.
