Android enthusiasts can now experience high-quality image editing at their fingertips. On Tuesday, Adobe introduced the beta version of Photoshop for Android, a major step in enhancing its mobile offerings just four months after releasing the iPhone variant. This new app incorporates a selection of essential desktop features, such as layering, masking, and innovative AI tools specifically tailored for mobile devices. During this beta phase, users can explore all features without any charges. Highlights include the 'Generative Fill' tool, which enables users to seamlessly add or modify elements in their images using AI technology; 'Tap Select' for quick isolation and editing of photo segments; along with traditional Photoshop tools like the Spot Healing Brush, Clone Stamp, Adjustment Layers, Magic Wand, and Object Select. Additionally, the app provides access to a curated collection of free Adobe Stock assets, enhancing creative possibilities for mobile users. Adobe aims to broaden Photoshop's appeal among the younger generation of creators who prioritize mobile functionality. "This mobile application enhances accessibility for those who prefer editing on their phones," the company stated, further revealing that additional features are already in development. The beta version supports Android 11 and newer, requiring a minimum of 6GB RAM, although Adobe suggests at least 8GB for optimal performance. Unlike the launch of the iPhone version, which featured both free and premium options with web integration, Adobe has yet to announce when Android users can expect similar capabilities.
