Adobe’s video editing app Premiere arrives on iPhones

Adobe has officially launched its renowned video editing application, Premiere, for iPhone users starting today. This release follows the recent announcement regarding the app’s mobile availability, with an Android version currently in the works. The Premiere app for mobile is free and packed with features designed for seamless video editing. Users can enjoy a multi-track timeline that accommodates videos, audio, music, and text. Additionally, the app supports 4K HDR editing, auto-generated captions, and customizable settings for color and shadow adjustments to enhance video quality on mobile screens. For those who record videos using their smartphones, the app offers intuitive tools to minimize background noise and amplify dialogue with simple slider controls. Moreover, Adobe has integrated several AI-driven functionalities into the app. Users can generate background sounds from prompts, and even create sound effects by humming or singing, thanks to the app's intelligent capabilities. Adobe's Firefly models enable users to design images and stickers, as well as convert still images into videos for dynamic transitions. While the app remains free to use, some AI features will require purchasing credits. Adobe also grants users access to a vast stock library filled with photos, clips, and sounds, allowing for enhanced video production without additional costs. This innovative Premiere app empowers creators to initiate projects on their mobile devices and effortlessly transfer them to the desktop version via Adobe Cloud. However, it's worth noting that transferring projects from desktop to mobile is not yet available. Mike Folgner, Adobe’s product director, emphasized the importance of catering to modern creators who prefer mobile editing. He stated, "We want to empower all types of creators to work. We know that the next generation of creators chooses and prefers to edit on mobile. That’s why this new mobile app is critical in meeting their needs.” With this launch, Adobe is expanding its mobile offerings, which already include apps like Photoshop for iOS and Android, as well as Firefly for mobile devices. This move positions Adobe as a formidable competitor against other platforms like ByteDance’s CapCut, Meta’s Edits, the a16z-backed startup Captions, and India-based InVideo.
