Adobe to offer Photoshop, Acrobat and Firefly AI tools free to students in India

In a significant move to enhance AI skills among students, Adobe announced on February 19 that it will provide complimentary access to its leading software products, including Photoshop, Acrobat, and the Firefly AI platform, for learners across India. This initiative aims to bolster the nation's burgeoning creator economy and is part of Adobe's commitment to fostering creativity and innovation. Students will gain access to these powerful tools through accredited higher education institutions, accompanied by comprehensive training programs, curriculum development, and certifications designed to equip them for careers in AI and related fields. Shantanu Narayen, Adobe's chair and CEO, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Adobe is expanding the opportunity for creativity for millions of students across India, empowering them with AI skills, thereby further accelerating Prime Minister Modi’s vision." The announcement was made during the India AI Impact Summit, aligning with the government's strategic goal of generating employment opportunities in animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics by the year 2030. Adobe plans to collaborate with local authorities to implement its AI-driven offerings in thousands of educational institutions, including schools and colleges that feature Content Creator Labs. Additionally, Adobe is partnering with NASSCOM FutureSkills Prime, a digital skilling initiative supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to offer free courses and certifications recognized by the industry. The Firefly creative AI platform will leverage various models from partners such as Google, OpenAI, and Runway, providing users with versatile options for content creation.
