Adobe unveils next-gen Firefly with studio-quality AI tools for audio, video and design

At the Adobe MAX 2025 event, Adobe showcased significant advancements in its Firefly platform, unveiling a comprehensive set of AI-driven tools, models, and creative agents that aim to transform the creative process for users in video, audio, imaging, and design. The enhanced Firefly platform now boasts studio-quality capabilities, including features like Generate Soundtrack, which creates fully licensed music tracks, and Generate Speech, an innovative text-to-speech tool. Additionally, a new AI video editor has been introduced, expanding the platform's functionality. The Firefly Image Model 5 is also a highlight, offering the ability to produce photorealistic images at a native 4MP resolution. Adobe has broadened the Firefly ecosystem with partner integrations that include ElevenLabs, Google, Luma AI, OpenAI, Runway, and Topaz Labs. These collaborations enable creators to train AI models tailored to their unique styles, facilitating the generation of personalized assets. During the announcement, Adobe previewed Project Moonlight, an agent-driven interface designed to assist creators by analyzing their social media channels and aiding in brainstorming new ideas, refining visuals, and generating content based on simple descriptions. "Adobe Firefly supports your entire end-to-end creative process, from initial idea exploration to final production with AI-enhanced video, audio, imaging, and design tools," stated Ely Greenfield, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President at Adobe. "Our goal was to create a unified platform that combines top-tier AI models with superior creative tools, and the response from creators has been remarkable." The latest iteration of Firefly streamlines the creative workflow, allowing users to transition smoothly from brainstorming to production with a variety of cutting-edge generative tools. Firefly Boards, the platform’s AI-powered ideation space, now features Rotate Object for transforming 2D visuals into 3D, enhanced PDF exporting capabilities, and bulk image downloading for smoother collaboration. Users can also access Presets for quick style generation and the Generative Text Edit feature to modify text directly within images. Among the standout tools introduced are: - **Generate Soundtrack (Public Beta)**: An AI music generator that crafts fully licensed tracks in mere seconds. - **Generate Speech (Public Beta)**: This text-to-speech functionality delivers natural-sounding voiceovers in various languages, utilizing Firefly Speech Model along with ElevenLabs technology. - **AI Video Editor (Private Beta)**: A multitrack editing tool that merges generative and recorded media, allowing users to trim clips, apply effects, and edit using either transcripts or visual controls. - **Prompt to Edit**: A conversational image editing tool that enables users to articulate visual adjustments in everyday language, supported by the Firefly Image Model 5 and other partner models. With the launch of Firefly Image Model 5 (Public Beta), Adobe introduces its most sophisticated image generation technology to date, capable of creating lifelike images with detailed lighting, texture, and anatomical accuracy. The Firefly Custom Models feature (Private Beta) allows creators to develop their own AI models to generate content that aligns with their personal or brand aesthetics. These custom models remain private unless shared with explicit creator authorization. Adobe continues to establish Firefly as the most accessible AI ecosystem for the creative industry, now integrating top third-party models, such as Topaz Bloom, ElevenLabs Multilingual v2, Runway’s Gen-4, Google Veo 3.1, and OpenAI GPT Image. This versatility invites creators to experiment and combine different models directly within the Firefly interface. **Availability and Access**: - Firefly Image Model 5, Generate Soundtrack, and Generate Speech are currently in public beta. - The AI Video Editor, Firefly Custom Models, and Firefly Creative Production will enter private beta and start rolling out next month. - Project Moonlight is set to launch in the coming months, with early access available via a waitlist. - Until December 1, Creative Cloud Pro and Firefly subscribers can make unlimited image and video generations across all Firefly and partner models.
