New28 Years Later: Bone Templetrailer teases a cure

Sony Pictures has unveiled an intriguing new trailer for '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' which is set to hit theaters early next year. Directed by Nia DaCosta, this sequel follows the critically acclaimed film '28 Years Later,' further expanding a franchise that played a pivotal role in the resurgence of the zombie genre in the 21st century. The narrative picks up after the catastrophic events initiated by the release of the 'Rage Virus' from a Cambridge lab, transforming infected individuals into violent, mindless beings, commonly referred to as 'fast zombies.' The widespread infection led to societal collapse, setting the stage for the horrors that ensue. In the sequel, '28 Weeks Later,' audiences were introduced to new characters navigating a perilous existence on the outskirts of London. However, the cycle of chaos continues as one careless act leads to the resurgent spread of the virus. Now, '28 Years Later' presents a world still grappling with a stringent quarantine, where a small group of survivors inhabits an isolated island connected to the mainland by a heavily fortified causeway. The trailer hints at a potential cure amidst the continuing nightmare, featuring evolved Alpha zombies, including a character named Samson, portrayed by Chi Lewis-Parry. Viewers are also reintroduced to Dr. Ian Kelson, played by Ralph Fiennes, a former general practitioner who has created a chilling temple from human bones salvaged from crematoriums, which gives the film its haunting title. The previous installment concluded with a heart-wrenching scene as 12-year-old Spike, played by Alfie Williams, faced the loss of his mother Isla, portrayed by Jodie Comer, and returned to the mainland without his father, Jamie, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and his newborn sibling. As anticipation builds for the release, fans are eager to see how this latest chapter will unfold in a world where hope and horror coexist.
